Lighting Technician at Normoria

As a lighting technician at Normoria, you will have the opportunity to work with your craft alongside skilled technicians on both visiting productions and exciting in-house productions, where your creativity will be challenged. The position is in collaboration with the Opera in Kristiansund and falls under the Department of Stage Technology. The work follows a set schedule and rotation.

We are looking for an initiative-taking, creative, and solution-oriented lighting technician who, together with the rest of the technical staff, delivers high-quality productions at Normoria.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for planning and delivering all technical requirements within the lighting department.
    • Designing lighting for our own productions and supporting the creative teams throughout the production process from start to finish
    • Managing lighting and AV for events.
    • Providing technical support as and where necessary to visiting technicians and companies  
    • Maintenance of technical equipment and other miscellaneous tasks.

    We believe you will succeed best in this role if you have the following skills and experiences:

    • Relevant education or experience in similar work.
    • Experience with GrandMA2 lighting consoles and various types of moving lights.
    • Experience using visualization tools such as Cast WYSIWYG.
    • Knowledge of network systems.
    • Experience in event management.
    • Ability to understand artistic processes and a drive to create great audience experiences, with an eye for the bigger picture.
    • Flexibility and the ability to handle a variety of tasks.


      Personal Qualities:

      As a lighting technician, you will be part of a creative, technical team. Collaboration, initiative, and execution are central to the position. It is expected that you are sociable and service-minded. You must be able to communicate well and effectively with the audience, users, artists, partners, colleagues, and other departments in the concert hall. You have the ability to understand artistic processes and a drive to create great audience experiences, with an eye for the bigger picture.

      Normoria – The Cultural House in Kristiansund

      The Opera in Kristiansund, Nordmøre Museum, Kristiansund Library, and Kristiansund Cultural School are now coming together under one roof. In the heart of the music theater city of Kristiansund, we are building a cultural center of nearly 12,000 square meters. This building will be bustling with activities most of the day, year-round, and will house teaching and performance spaces for students at the cultural school and the opera's ballet center, rehearsal rooms and workshops for the opera's staff, an opera hall, a symphony hall, and a rehearsal hall/black box for a wide audience, modern exhibition facilities, storage and dissemination rooms in the museum, a modern library with a public workshop, and public areas with a café.

      The building will be the daily workplace for more than 70 cultural workers from the various institutions, and the operations organization will be an important link between the different actors in the house, collaborating with external professional actors, volunteers, and a diverse audience.

      The building will be ready for use in June 2025.
